ABOUT US
OUR STORY
We are a volunteer group of like-minded and concerned citizens of all backgrounds and experiences, joining together to make a difference in our communities and the world around us.
Our mission: BID is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and advancing our democratic values and supporting candidates committed to them.
Our actions will be guided by our common goals:
-
KNOW: Be informed about our rights and the rights of others. Use this information to protect ourselves and those who are most vulnerable to policy changes.
-
SUPPORT: Lift up organizations and communities marginalized by the administration's policies. Stand up for individuals being harassed. Donate money, volunteer our time, and spread the word about the great work these organizations are doing.
-
BE HEARD: Speak up, listen and calmly communicate our concerns. Hold our government and the media responsible for their words and actions.
-
LEAD: Run for office, plan a community action, or get involved in campaigns of progressive candidates running for office.
-
ACT: Wake up. Brush your teeth. Take action. Every day! Encourage our friends and family to do the same. Work to create a network, and take action together!
Our action steps will include: making phone calls, sending cards, visiting local congressional offices of our representatives, attending town hall meetings and community events—all activities intended to have our voices be heard, keep our representatives accountable, and uphold our democratic values.
Our second set of actions will be identifying, supporting, and promoting individuals running for local, state, and federal offices.
Why should you join?
We: Embrace your enthusiasm to advance our common goals and want to share info on how best to accomplish that.
You: Want to learn how to work to influence Congress to listen and act on YOUR behalf.
You: Want to work with like-minded individuals to help to develop and implement a proactive and effective approach in sync with your strongly held beliefs.
INDIVISIBLE GUIDE
Indivisible has offered us all an invaluable guide, a primer on how to effect the change we seek. The Indivisible Guide, download below, offers a step-by-step approach for individuals, groups, and organizations looking to replicate the Tea Party’s success in getting Congress to listen to a small, vocal, dedicated group of constituents. The guide is intended to be equally useful for stiffening Democratic spines and weakening Republican resolve.
